Test Application Download and Installation

All HSK and YCT candidates are required to download and install the Test Application (HSKExamClient-HomeR20220907-HW1) in advance to get ready for taking the test. Please read and follow the steps provided in this Installation Instructions.

1. Unzip/extract the file if the folder is downloaded as a zip file.

2. Open the folder to locate the file HSKExamClientR.exe

3. Right-click HSKExamClientR.exe and run as administrator

4. If it pops up User Account Control question, choose YES. Congratulations! Your HSKExamClientR.exe application just runs. Choose menu language on the welcome screen.

5. Choose menu language from Chinese, English, Korean or Japanese (it doesn’t affect the test itself). The next page will check your camera (must open), the audio playing, and the Internet speed (must be greater than 150KB/s). If everything meets the requirement, the orange NEXT button will light up. Click NEXT.

6. You must read and agree to all the requirements for the Online Chinese Proficiency Test before login. For the mock test practice, fill in the information: name, email, gender, nationality, and your test level. Please note that dummy information is fine for the mock test practice and each email receives only one practice. For the rehearsal test and official test, the admission ticket number and the 4-digit passcode will be requested to log in.

7. After you launch the HSKExamClientR.exe, you will NOT be able to do anything else with your computer but stay with the exam.

• The Application will NOT launch in multiple/extended monitors.

• Please uninstall/delete any old versions you may have installed previously on your computer/laptop before installation.

• Please know that the access to the practice tests provided in the test application - HSK Exam Client will stay open for about two weeks before the official test day. But it will be temporarily deactivated due to the rehearsal/official tests administered across different time zones worldwide and reactivated as soon as testing is complete. Random names and makeup emails can be used to log in to do the practice tests as desired.

     
To quit the Test Application

• Press Alt+F4 (desktop), or Fn+Alt+F4 (laptop) 

• Click the Exit button at the bottom right corner of the software window and key in the password: quit

Notes:

• Some old computers may need extra 2 Microsoft dependency files to launch the test Application properly. If the HSKExamClient.exe file doesn't work, the dependency files listed below will come in handy.

     Microsoft visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (vc_redist.x86.exe)
