The Connecticut Girls Hockey League (CGHL) consists of recreational girls’ youth hockey teams from organizations throughout Connecticut. CGHL provides divisions for U10, U12, U14, and U19, as well as a way for U8 teams. CGHL provides the structure to find other girl's teams for games throughout the season. CGHL ends the season with tournaments in each division.
CGHL provides a means for girls to learn the skills to play the sport of hockey. CGHL values player development, fun, effort, and excellence, as well as good sportsmanship from players, coaches, and parents. We are volunteer-run and have an executive board consisting of officers, and a full board with representatives from each of our member organizations. Most of our teams are located in Connecticut but we do allow teams from other states. Organizations do not have to have field teams on multiple age levels, and do not have to have teams every year. We understand that the number of teams may change each year.
If your organization is forming a girls' team and is interested in talking with us, please reach out to the CGHL's president or Secretary. We will have you fill out an application for membership and set up a time for you to come to the next board meeting. At the board meeting, you will have a chance to tell others about your plans for participating in girls' hockey, about your willingness to travel, commit to the minimum playing requirements, and the tournaments at the end of the season. You suggest that you take the time to read through this website and look at the Rules and Policies for the organization and the tournaments so you understand what being a member will entail.
