Empowering teachers to integrate movement!
This is a bank of lesson plans and supplemental resources designed for teachers who want to integrate movement/dance into their classrooms, instructors in private studios who want to find inspiring material, and students of the CSU Dance Pedagogy program to supplement their education.
The Lesson Plan Bank Project was inspired by the work of students in the Dance Pedagogy program at CSU Dance and the desire of K-12 teachers to integrate movement into the academic classroom. Through the generous support of a Lilla B. Morgan Memorial Endowment grant, CSU Dance faculty member, Lisa Morgan and two dance majors, Aminta Remisosky and Katie McClendon (2017) worked together to develop a comprehensive Lesson Plan Template system. CSU Dance continues to partner with Pre-K-12 schools across Colorado and work is ongoing to expand and develop the bank.
Provide movement/dance education tools that are readily accessible to teachers, are easy to use, and are clearly aligned with Pre-K-12 Colorado Academic Standards.
Offer CSU pedagogy students the opportunity to develop Lesson Plans that complement academic curriculum, offer enhanced tools for diverse learners and align with the Colorado Dance Standards.
To encourage and support more humans to move and DANCE!
Research and develop the needs of the project and design a framework for the Lesson Plans to fit into.
Meet with state dance education specialists to learn about how this project can complement what is already in process at the Colorado Department of Education and to support the efforts in implementing the Lesson Plans and working with Pre-K-12 teachers around the state.
Finalize all templates for future use in the CSU Dance Program and continue to develop material that can be added as needed.
Listed below are three levels of instruction from short, focused activities to enhance the academic lesson, to full length Dance Lessons in an arts programming schedule.
Under each section, you will find completed examples for download as well as blank templates and tutorials to design your own lessons!
