The CSU+UC Event Professionals Network (EPN) brings together event professionals from across the California State University and University of California systems to foster collaboration, share expertise, and strengthen our collective impact.

Participation in the Network is voluntary. Members serve in addition to their primary responsibilities as university employees. Institutional duties and professional obligations to one’s campus always take priority over volunteer service to the Network.

This Code of Conduct affirms our shared commitment to professionalism, respect, and stewardship of one another’s time and contributions. Participation in the Network constitutes agreement to uphold this Code.

Commitment to Professional Responsibilities

Recognize that all members are university employees first, and campus responsibilities take precedence over Network activities.
Respect that colleagues contribute to the Network outside of their formal institutional duties and often beyond regular work hours.
Support a culture that values balance, flexibility, and professional boundaries.
Respect colleagues’ time by being prepared, responsive, and solution-oriented.

Respect and Collaboration

Treat all members, volunteers, partners, and guests with courtesy, professionalism, and mutual respect.
Value diverse perspectives and engage in respectful dialogue, even when opinions differ.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries in all interactions.
Foster an inclusive environment where individuals feel safe contributing ideas and feedback.

Roles and Representation

Respect the roles of the Chair, leadership team, and designated coordinators.
Use appropriate channels when raising concerns or proposing initiatives.
Recognize that authority rests within the Network’s leadership structure, not with individual members acting independently.
Do not represent the Network publicly unless authorized to do so.

Integrity and Conduct

Model ethical and professional behavior in all Network-related activities, whether in-person or virtual.
Protect confidential or sensitive information shared within the Network.
Refrain from harassment, intimidation, discrimination, inappropriate comments or conduct, or behavior that undermines trust or creates discomfort.
Avoid actions that could harm the reputation or collaborative relationships of the Network or its member institutions.

Conflicts of Interest

Disclose any personal or professional interests that may conflict, or appear to conflict, with Network activities.
Recuse oneself from discussions or decisions where such conflicts exist.

addressing concerns and violations

Concerns regarding potential violations of this Code may be reported to the Network Chair, the Manager of the CSU Advancement Academy (the staff lead for the Network) , or a designated leadership representative.
Reports will be reviewed in a fair, timely, and respectful manner. Leadership may seek additional information and work toward resolution through dialogue, guidance, or corrective action as appropriate.
Violations of this Code may result in consequences up to and including removal from volunteer roles and permanent exclusion from participation in the CSU+UC Event Professionals Network.
Retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith will not be tolerated.

By participating in the CSU+UC Event Professionals Network, members affirm their commitment to fostering a professional, respectful, and collaborative community—one that values both the mission of the Network and the time, boundaries, and institutional responsibilities of every volunteer.
