Founded in 2020, CSTEP is a non-profit organization based in the South-West of England that provides free ESL tutoring and resources to immigrants and refugees, focusing on children. As well as connecting volunteers to kids for free 1-on-1 lessons, we also run summer day camps, book drives, and fundraisers to support out work and mission.
Hello everyone! I am Fev and I'm thrilled to share my journey as the founder of a CSTEP, a non-profit organization focused on ESL education for kids. As a 17-year-old first-generation immigrant, my personal struggles with ESL and the cultural barriers I faced are what became the catalysts for this project. In 2020, during my 9th-grade year, I embarked on a mission to create a charitable initiative centered around ESL learning for immigrant and refugee children. This initiative was born from the heartfelt desire to ensure that no child should ever feel isolated or unheard due to language barriers.
Our organization's approach to achieving this goal is multi-faceted. We provide free one-on-one lessons, engage kids in enriching summer camps, conduct book drives to foster a love for reading, and actively advocate for the needs of ESL learners in our communities.
Today, the organization I founded aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and informed space for ESL learners of all ages. It's a space where they can freely express themselves, receive valuable support, and experience a sense of belonging. Looking back, I realized that the very kind of environment I yearned for as a child is the one I am striving to create through this initiative.
Join me on this journey as we create a brighter future for ESL learners, helping them overcome challenges, unleash their potential, and embrace a world of opportunities. Together, we can build a community that celebrates diversity and champions education, one where every voice is heard and every learner is uplifted.
