What should I do before I start the first course of  Computer Support Specialist Program?

What is the Computer Support Specialist Program Orientation?
For the first course of the  Computer Support Specialist Program (CMPET311-IT Support Fundamentals 1), the instructor will usually have an online orientation session in person and/or using a Zoom meeting on the internet. The time and place will be listed in the MJC course schedule.  Also, it is important to watch the video playlist on the main page of this website, before the orientation, so you will have the basic information about the course.  The orientation will mainly be a question and answer time and a time to introduce ourselves.  Most instructors will hold the meeting in the first day of the course which is usually on a Monday. The meeting will be recorded so you can watch it if your are not able to attend.

What if I am unable to attend Computer Support Specialist Program Orientation?

When is the Computer Support Specialist Program Orientation?
The instructor will invite all the students who are on the course roster and will send the link to the Zoom meeting..  It will typically be on the first day of the course.

How do I join the orientation ?
The instructor will send a link to you for the Zoom meeting.  All you have to do is click the link on the meeting in the email that you received.  It is best to join the meeting a little early.  The instructor will have the meeting open about 15 minutes before the meeting starts just to make sure everything is working OK.  You might meet some new friends !

What materials do I need for the 4 required core courses of the Computer Support Technician (Level 1) Certificate of the Computer Support Specialist Program?
You will need some basic tools, a inexpensive multi-meter, and some alligator clips if you want to participate in hands-on activities such as replicating the lab simulations with a real computer (hands-on computer servicing) or the optional Arduino Labs . 

The Computer Support Specialist Program in-person meetings will be in the Center for Advanced Technology (CAT) Building at MJC East Campus in room 227..
