With the advent of modern conversational systems, research in search and recommendation is becoming increasingly intertwined, along with that in dialogue modeling. This workshop will look at the future of these fields, focusing on how to combine recent developments to address practical problems and further advance the state of the art. From improved contextual modeling, to better incorporating temporality, more natural dialogue, and evaluating quality of interactions with intelligent agents in realistic settings, we anticipate that the next decade will bring tremendous progress.
We invite participants to talk about their ongoing research in this space, and especially to demonstrate their approaches and think about open challenges -- together with faculty, students, postdocs and Google researchers.
