✴️Mission✴️
The mission of Cub Scouts is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives, guided by the values of the Scout Oath and Law. This is achieved through fun and engaging activities that focus on:
Character development
Citizenship training
Exploring the outdoors
Building friendships
Practicing teamwork and leadership
We know families are busy, and we strive to offer a flexible, balanced program that complements school, sports, and family time.
🧑🤝🧑What is a Pack?🧑🤝🧑
Pack 73 includes all of our Cub Scouts, their families and our leaders. It is our big community group where we learn from each other and celebrate our accomplishments together.
⛺What is a Den?⛺
Dens are groups within our pack that are based on age/grade in school. Dens work together to earn adventure loops, pins, badges, and ranks. For example, learning how to care for and respect the flag, camping skills, visits with community leaders, learning knot tying, learning campfire safety, woodworking, and team building.
Lion- Kindergarten
Tiger- 1st Grade
Wolf- 2nd Grade
Bear- 3rd Grade
Webelos- 4th Grade
Arrow of Light- 5th grade
Uniforms
Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment to the goals of character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. The awards displayed on the uniform mark significant milestones in every Scout.
Uniform Policy
The Cub Scout uniform should be worn to all Cub Scout activities including Den Meetings and Pack Meetings.
This includes:
Class A scout shirt, including patches
"73", signifying membership in Pack 73
Council patch
Neckerchief
Neckerchief slide
Lions (K) wear Lion shirt
Uniforms can be purchased at the Scout Store located at 27 Calendar Ave., La Grange, IL. Just tell the scout store associate what grade your child is going into and our pack number (73), and they will ensure you have the right uniform. There are other uniform items for purchase like uniform pants, hat, belt, etc. but our pack considers these items optional to help control costs for our scout families. We also think buying a handbook is helpful but if this is cost prohibitive you can find electronic versions online.
We have a “pay-it-forward” bin that might have used items that have been donated by scout families. Please ask if you are interested in checking it.
Pack 73 will provide each scout the following uniform items:
Red Vest, used to display award and activity patches
Class B T-shirt, to be worn when a Class A uniform is not required
💰Membership Costs💰
Registration Fee: $99 paid online to the council
The annual registration fee is used by Scouting America to support national and regional activities, curriculum, and leader training. Pack 73 does not receive these funds.
Pack Dues: $100 to the Pack 73
This fee directly supports Pack 73 activities, including: awards, den meeting supplies, and pack meeting supplies. This can be earned through fundraising.
Outings: Each outing is pay-as-you-sign-up. You may fundraise over the required $100 profit and use any extra profit to help pay for these events as they come up. Please note that if you sign up to go, you'll need to pay unless a refund can be issued or another family takes your place.
We view fundraising as a valuable learning experience for the scouts. However, we recognize that families are busy and often asked to fundraise. Those who would rather opt out may simply pay $100.
