Permeable surfaces including soil, allow for water to percolate down into the ground water. This process is generated by gravity. Some paving surfaces are permeable as well. Many are made of a porous substance that will enable stormwater to flow through or through gaps in between. This reduces runoff on roads, parking and walking surfaces which can also reduce contamination and flooding.
