For this project I found two articles in the news that reflect cybersecurity problems. I took the CCBC training for cybersecurity. Overall, this project was really informative and helped me be more aware of how I can protect myself online.
The article reports on a widespread data-stealing malware attack in 2023 that infected over 10 million devices globally. The malware primarily targeted personal and business systems to steal sensitive data. To protect against such attacks, users are advised to regularly update their devices, install reputable antivirus software, and be cautious of phishing attempts and suspicious downloads.
This article highlights the FBI's 2023 Internet Crime Report, which noted a significant increase in online fraud, causing a record $12.5 billion in losses. The report emphasizes the rising threat of investment scams, particularly involving cryptocurrency, and business email compromise (BEC) scams. Preventative measures include using multi-factor authentication, educating about the risks of investment scams, and being wary of unsolicited communication requesting financial transactions or sensitive information.

I've learned key points about cybersecurity. The large number of people affected by these threats shows how important it is to keep our computers and devices secure. We should always use updated antivirus software and watch out for scams. The stories about huge money losses teach us that scams are getting trickier, especially with investments and emails. So, learning about these dangers and using steps like multi-factor authentication can help us stay safer online. I've learned ways to protect my information against cyber-attacks and how to avoid putting myself in those situations through the training.
