Project Decription
In this project I examined how I am affected by social media individually and how social media has affected all of us.
Social Media Addiction Survey
I was actually suprised by my results. I answered the questions honestly and for sure knew that I would be deem "Addicted";however, my results said otherwise.
Interesting Social Media Statistic
The statistic the stood out to me the most was the percentage of the American society that use's YouTube, specificially because my entire household contributes to the that percentage.
Social Media's Impact on Society
I believe social media has hurt society more than it has helped society."Social media was originally mean to connect friends, family members and likeminded people together"(Maryville University, 2020). Now its being used as a social status, with cult like followers, and a place to spread drama and false realities. There are great tools in social media such as YouTube, providing the ability for anyone to learn almost anything at the click of a button. However, when a great percentage of society utilize these platforms in way that doesn't promote positive growth and civility, how will we evolve?
Lessons Learned
I know use social media more than I should, but to learn that there are underlying tendencies that deem someone as "Addicted to Social Media" is unfathomable . What's daunting is that only 5-10% of Americans have a healthy relationship with social media. (Auxier & Anderson, 2021)
