Lessons Learned

This project consisted of me researching news stories relating to Information Security and analyzing the credibility of the source. I also participated in engaging cybersecurity training and completed and will be uploading my certificate as soon as possible.

I learned how to stay safe online and protect my personal information. The training covered important topics like privacy, how to recognize phishing scams. I also explored threats like ransomware attacks, malware, and viruses which are used to trick, steal from users and affect the users device. Overall, the training taught me how to spot dangers and use smart practices to stay secure in a digital world.

Australia's Largest Pension Funds Hacked

X (twitter) hit by major Cyberattack

This article speaks on hackers launching coordinated cyberattacks on several major Australian pension funds, compromising over 20,000 accounts and stealing money from some members. AustralianSuper, the largest fund, reported 600 stolen passwords and four members losing a total of A$500,000. Other funds like Australian Retirement Trust, Rest, Insignia, and Hostplus also confirmed breaches. The Australian government is coordinating a national response, with officials expressing serious concern and urging stronger cybersecurity measures.
