For this project i had to describe the impact of social media on society and myself
After i took the the “AM I ADDICTED TO SOCIAL MEDIA?” QUIZ, it helped me relize how much i am actually addicted to social media. As the test result stated.
You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?
I do think i need to step away from social media a little bit. After checking my screen time, it said i was on social media for over four hours a day. I am going to do this by giving more of my time into my studies.
An interesting social media statistic is that YouTube is the most widely used platform in the U.S., with 81% of adults using it. This caught my attention because it reflects how often I use YouTube myself. Whether it’s for learning new skills, exploring hobbies, or just unwinding with entertainment, the data matches my own habits and shows how much this platform has become a part of daily life.
Social media has had a huge impact on society, and I’ve seen its effects in my own life. For example, I met my girlfriend through social media, which shows how it can connect people in meaningful ways. It’s amazing how platforms make it easier to build relationships and stay in touch with friends and family. At the same time, I’ve noticed the downsides, like people comparing themselves to others or getting caught up in negativity online. Overall, I think social media is a powerful tool, but it’s up to us to use it in a way that adds value to our lives.
While completing this project, I learned how social media plays a much bigger role in our lives than I realized, both in connecting people and influencing society. Reflecting on my own experiences, like meeting my girlfriend online, helped me see how these platforms shape our personal and social interactions. It also reminded me of the importance of balancing the positive aspects of social media with its potential challenges.
