I try to limit my phone usage by reading books going on hikes with friends hanging around in fast food joints and by just sitting around enjoying my boredom even with my attempts to limit my usage I'm not shock that I'm reliant on social media mostly cause that's how a lot of friends contact me no one texts my number so every morning the first thing I do is check Instagram to see if anyone texted me then this leads to morning doom scrolling. Recently if I had to guess I probably spend 4 hours on social media that doesn't mean I don't use my phone for others things cause with that 4 hours I also listen to music on my phone for 2 hours at the gym I will remember these results though when I'm my phone later.
I believe social media is negative even though social media is used now as messenger of the phone the new phone number and helps us keep in contact I don't see it that way it’s still a website that pushes fear on to you keep you scrolling it rage baits you into encaging every time I've turned off my phone and got off social media was after I spent 2 hours of scrolling just to raise my anxiety instead of relaxing after working all day. The only positive thing is I can contact my friends there or keep interacting with strangers I've met at events that all but what's the difference between texting them on social media compared to texting them on your phone number. when it comes to social media it’s like living in a glass house, we all know what’s going on with your life because we can peer anytime, we feel like it personally I think we should know less about each other.
Even though my youth don't use Facebook and see it’s as the boomer website I wasn't shocked it was the most used as I gotten older, I've started to understand why it so popular and the many things it can be used for. My neighborhood has a Facebook group where we can discuss events, issues in the neighborhood, come together for each other and just connect with each other. For me I use Facebook for its market place and to job hunt every week I'm able to find hiring events in the area that Linkden never email me about. Also, I've seen that a lot people I know have also started to make accounts.
Social media has pros when It comes to being able to help people connect and stay in contact no matter how far however I don't think the pros out ways the cons with youth having shorter and shorter attention spans and with the rage bait and news that come out that people are finding it harder to know what's being told to them on social media is the truth. I don't think social media needs go away I think it shouldn't be evolving has fast as it is especially with phone addiction in kids who are still in elementary.
