Transmission

"Train ground communication system which includes too many interfaces between various subsystems and excessive ground equipment is used a traditional CBTC data communication system. In next generation CBTC systems, train-to-train communication is adopted with the advantages of higher-speed, larger-capacity per unit time and the briefer structure in comparison with traditional CBTC."[1].

During the time jet space chase, Sorian tries to convince Adam that it is a bad idea to travel to 2018. Adam ends the transmission and jams Sorian's tracking signal. Today's parallel is using a phone to hang up. You can also block callers so they cannot contact you in the future.

Communication transmission can also be used as means to track a person. While technology can continuously improve, there needs to be a consideration for negative impact of technology. Furthermore, participants in the network should have the ability to both see how their information is broadcast and disable their data from being broadcast.

Quantum Signature

Using smart phone applications such as "Locating Friends and Family" applies the idea that "The architecture of the system is based on client-server approach. The client phone registers and login into the server. Then, the client periodically sends his coordinate location updates to the server which stores it in a database. Thus, any client wishes to learn the location of another client will have to register and login to the server to request the location."[2].

In The Adam Project, Adam is capable of disabling the quantum signature. Similar to a paper trail, the quantum signature provides insight as to the time jet's location and, in the case of time travel, what year it is in. Sorian has the resources and capabilities to track Adam anywhere but disabling the system gave Adam some time to hide and escape until she finds him again. There are many benefits to using a tracking app or even a GPS system. It provides the awareness of people, locations, and things. On the other hand, it makes our informartion vulnerable to anyone with the right tools. The focus of quantum signature as a network communications is a comparison to real-life tracking of information.

Time Travel

In The Adam Project (2020), time travel is a means of communication. It can be used to communicate with the past, which comes in many forms. Sorian talks to her past self to gain wealth and power. Adam meets his past self and his father in the past to completely stop the creation of time travel.

Some modern day similarities to time travel are time capsules. Consider taking a video of oneself and watching it in the future to reminiscing of the past. Social media allows us to store our identity indefinitely on the internet. Ethical principles are important to make sure this information is secure and not used nefariously.
