Privacy is the right to be let alone, and Information Privacy is the right to have control over your personal data and how others may use that data [2]. Lots of the technology we use, such as Google and social media, collect our personal data and sell them or use them for a third party's benefit. Information Privacy applies to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in some unconventional ways. Though it may not seem relevant at first, when you look under the surface some details stand out.
The planet builder Slartibartfast knows about every single specific aspect of earth, as they constructed it both times. They also know where Arthur lived and how his house looked like. This implies they have a lot of personal information about the locations and lives of people on earth.
It turns out that Earth is run by Magratheans disguised as mice, and that they are always making experiments and taking measurements. This means they have probably gathered tons of personal information on most people. This could be analogous to big companies gathering personal information, for example Amazon saving all your data on what you buy, what you watch on Amazon prime, and what you search and click on [1]. Amazon uses this data to its own benefit just as the Magratheans use the data they answer to try to find the Ultimate Question.
