Plot Summary

Maverick is a test pilot for an advanced jet program that will be shut down in favor of drones if it cannot hit Mach 10 soon. Maverick pushes the jet to over Mach 10 in the final test flight, but pushes it too far and destroys the jet. As punishment, Maverick is forced to return to Top Gun with the directive to train pilots for a strike mission on an enemy uranium facility. Pilots endure extreme training – low-altitude flying, G-force endurance, radar evasion, and payload timing. The mission succeeds, and they cripple the facility, but Rooster and Maverick are shot down in the process with both safely ejecting from their planes. Maverick and Rooster meet up and steal an old F-14 from the nearby enemy air base. They escape the base and use the F-14 to shoot down two advanced enemy jets alone and a third with the help of Hangman, a friendly pilot that was not part of the primary mission.
