Japanese to English
French to English and Spanish to English
Spanish to English (Exact same every time)
Just looking at translated labels you can see a lot of potential from the first two examples I put. You can even see in my second and third example that the translation of the lower french sentence compared to the English on top shows a rather accurate translation.
In an entertainment sense you can see in the Japanese to English translation I used, we can read the text on a box almost completely in Japanese and have a good idea what it's trying to tell us. A popular model kit in Japan that has to do with the Mobile Suit Gundam series also sells here in the West, however their boxes and guides remain in Japanese. Although the steps are easy to follow, having Google Translate on hand can help when there's a block of text that may have important information for the model kit builder.
Additionally on the point of entertainment, the fact that they use AR technology for sporting events on TV has never occurred to me even though I see it all the time. It's almost a natural and cool way to display info to the viewers that could translate into other types of viewing entertainment as well.
In a more important side of things, there's a box of gauze I had that had French and Spanish descriptions alongside English. Translating for either of them brought fantastic results and I believe that it has the potential of providing people with that emergency help they need if they're ever out of the country. The app even lets you download the libraries so you don't need to be connected to data or WiFi to get translations. Just download Spanish libraries if you're visiting Spain and you probably have a decent chance and interpreting signs.
If this type of technology was implemented on someone's every day lenses, I can absolutely see the benefits this can bring to how they view the world, as it'll bring a lot of convenience to their lives. However I think it's also very easy to see the cons to these implementations. I can easily see myself clashing views with people and creating misunderstandings without realizing it, like arguing with someone for a second why they can't read a simple sign when it's actually in Arabic for example. Also the jarring aspect of maybe seeing a mascot for a company superimposed in front of their store could cause any sort of mishap from your loss of sense of space because as far as you know there's a giant pink alligator 2 feet in front of you.
Having real time control at this point would be beneficial I think, so the use can quickly discern what is real and what isn't, and that's a scary thought. Very much Black Mirror levels which I'm sure has actually happened in the show already.
