Can You Escape?

Puzzle Room Game in Virtual Reality

CS 428

Aastha Saraf and Katherine Misyutina

Our goal for Project 3 is to build an escape room puzzle, where the user would have to solve a sequence of puzzles in order to escape the room. Each room will have different themes as well as different kinds of puzzles to solve. After escaping each room, the difficulty will increase and therefore the puzzles and hints will get increasingly harder to solve. This game is inspired by the Escape room mobile games and physical escape rooms.

Why we want to use VR?

We believe that using Virtual Reality to make escape room puzzles will make the experience much more immersive than a mobile game. While it is not a physical escape room, it allows us creative freedom to explore different mechanics such as including magic as part of the escape room experience.

What we want to create:

We want to create a lobby that you spawn in where you can choosea variety of themed puzzles. Our initial goal is to create the lobby and two puzzle rooms.

Room #1 - Harry Potter Escape Room

In this room, we want to have a variety of puzzles centered around the theme of Harry Potter. We can have interactible objects that will only react in response to a magic wand. Perhaps only a certain spell will solve the puzzle! We can have maps and paintings that reveal secrets only after other puzzles have been solved. The possibilities are endless!

Magic wand example:

Room #2 - Lights and Shadows Room

In this room, there will be several puzzles that will be solved by interacting with the 3D space and moving around statues and light sources.
