Due to Its low cost, and low maintenance, a water reclamation and sludge recycling plant can be implemented to treat AMD pollution. Hydrated limestone In bulk would be a well balanced solution that is cheap, effective and non-toxic to human contact. With this in place, the measured amount of reclaimed water and mine sludge produced will give rise to a statistical analysis of how long it should take to fully reduce AMD in that area. A plus to this solution would be the refined metals that come out of the sludge. This material could be used and reclaimed by companies for further usage. Thus a recycling plant like this could potentially pay for itself given time.
