"Primary Coverage Area" is also referred to as "PCA". Primary Coverage Area is an area that a specific official is responsible for when in a "Two or Three Man Crew". The positions in a "Two Man Crew" are called "Lead" and "Trail". In a "Three Man Crew", the three positions are called "Lead, Trail and Center (Slot)". Each position, regardless of "Two or Three Man Crews" is responsible for their own "primary coverage area". There are "dual coverage areas" on the floor as well. "Primary Coverage Areas" will be covered in a "Learning Session", so please make sure to check the website for locations, dates and times. The reason that we have "PCA's" is so we (the officiating crew) will be able to cover the floor and make calls that may be fouls or violations. We will talk specifically about each position in the "Learning Session(s)" and hopefully help you understand your role on the crew when "reffing your PCA" and trusting your partners on the crew. Trust between crew members is very important and helps everyone stay on the same page and be consistent when making calls. Fouls and Violations coming from the "Primary Area Calling Official" is very important, which builds trust within the crew, as well as gaining credibility and trust with coaches and players.
