The Rain Light Journey: A Tale of Passion and Community
In the annals of racing history, our story begins with Simbin’s RACE07, circa '07 or '08. Two passionate racers, Crossy and Gunthar, serendipitously crossed paths on public servers. Little did they know that their shared love for the track would forge a lasting connection.
Their journey unfolded as they delved into organized F3000 racing communities abroad. Crossy eventually ascended to the role of Manager in the Formula Pro Pacific Serie (FPPS) at RaceDepartment. This pivotal moment marked the birth of a deeper camaraderie between Crossy and Gunthar.
After a brief hiatus, fate intervened, reuniting them in the virtual world of Race07/GTR Evolution. Their racing adventures extended to several Australian and New Zealand communities, including Simjunkies, RaceOnOz, SRA, Jandal, and ASRNZ. The bond grew stronger as they transitioned to ACC (Assetto Corsa Competizione), maintaining their connection across the digital racetracks.
Yet, something was missing. Dissatisfied with existing racing communities, Crossy and Gunthar decided to carve their own path. They tinkered with servers, live-streamed their escapades on Twitch, and christened it “Crossy’s Monday Night Madness.” Soon, one of their regular racers proposed a Monday night series—a spark that ignited a roaring flame.
Enter the rain light—a quirky habit of Gunthar’s. It became a running joke among the regulars, who playfully followed suit. When asked about the rain light’s purpose, they spun tales of proton emissions propelling cars forward, making them faster. The community thrived, even as they continued to compete with other racing groups.
And so, from the fertile soil of camaraderie and shared passion, Rain Light Racing emerged—a community where laughter, speed, and the glow of rain lights illuminate the virtual asphalt.
In the virtual world of racing, where pixels blur into adrenaline-fueled curves, our tale unfolds. It all began with Crossy, a streamer determined to cultivate a community around his passion for racing. Slowly, he wove a digital tapestry, streaming races on Twitch, one viewer at a time.
Choosing a night that harmonized with existing series, Crossy and the team birthed “Monday Night Madness.” Their intention was clear: not to compete but to complement. Rain Light Racing emerged as the beacon for those seeking camaraderie, speed, and a dash of whimsy.
During our inaugural season, two brothers from South Africa joined our ranks. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and soon they broached the topic of sponsorship. We chuckled, then accepted, seeding a prize pool for Season 2. As our numbers swelled, so did the rewards—a testament to our community’s growth. We also found our voice for the Driver Briefings in Harrison.
But we dared to be different. Instead of hoarding prizes for podium finishers, we spread the bounty across the field. A novel approach, perhaps, but it worked—a winning formula that set us apart.
In Season 4, Crossy reached out to old racing friends from A Previous Community. Their gift? A full commentary broadcast renamed to MatchFit Commentary, elevating our livestreams to new heights on our YouTube channel, youtube.com/@crossy43. We also had help from Newcomer Nick, who was loving the "feel' & vibe of RLR. Nick is now a main part of the Management part of RLR & continues to help push us past what we though was first capable.
When Season 6 Hits we were once again back to our Initial Team of Gunthar, Crossy & Nick, however with an added fresh Face in the Form of Elvis.
But the real game-changer? Live stewarding during races. No more post-race reviews; instead, real-time justice. Rain Light Racing now stood poised for growth, with tantalizing prospects on the horizon. We introduced a New Sponsor SIMBLACKS who generously donated some eye opening prizes to our ever growing Sim Community & this continues on as we move forward.
We are about to engage Season 9 with a brand new Sim (Le Mans Ultimate). Wer are pulling our resources together to offer a unique, fun, yet highly competitive racing environment.
So, fellow racers, buckle up. The road ahead is paved with rain lights, camaraderie, and the thrill of the track
...and thank you for chooing to race with us!
