“The cross of Jesus Christ -- God's bitter mockery of all human grandeur and God's bitter suffering in all human misery, God's lordship over all the world.”
― Dietrich Bonhoeffer*
God’s lordship, the sovereignty of Christ’s Cross, is repeatedly revealed in common natural circumstances.
The sovereignty of God is displayed in science, nature, history, personal relationships, and eternal matters; it is all around us. Here, we chronicle the evidence.
Topics like the cause of guilt, the planning of pregnancies, why people don’t love Jesus, and why there can be only one God are examples of how God's authority is supreme.
The Bible is the sourcebook that proves God's lordship over the world. But Bonhoeffer advises, "One cannot simply read the Bible, like other books. One must be prepared to enquire of it. Only thus will it reveal itself. Only if we expect from it the ultimate answer, shall we receive it. That is because in the Bible God speaks to us. And one cannot simply think about God in one’s own strength, one has to enquire of God. Only if we seek him, will he answer us.”
