I was wondering if there is any way to crop a video in Squarespace 7.1 or align it to the left? Maybe with CSS, or if there is an easier way? I added a 1080x1080px (square) video into the video block, and set it to mute, autoplay, and loop. The issue is that the block keeps the full 1920x1080 width instead of cropping to the same size as the actual video. I've attached two screen recordings that show the problem. Hi I'm trying to crop images that users upload onto my site into a square. I have already tried a few solutions posted on this website, namely -resize-in-c-sharp-algorith-to-determine-resize-dimensions-height-and-wi and WebImage Crop To Square. However, although these solutions convert the image into a square, they add large areas of transparency on the top and bottom of the image, which is not what I want since these images will be used as profile images.

To crop an image without adding large patches of transparency to the top and bottom, you are going to have to cut off part of the sides. Without seeing the code it should be something along the lines of cutting off (width-height)/2 pixels from each side.

I'm trying to take a 1900x1080 image and crop a 200x200 square out of the center but I cannot for the life of me figure out, nor find a resource on, how to crop a perfect square from an image. You can drag a randomly dimensioned box around the image but that's pointless when there are criteria to be met. Please, if anybody knows how to proportionally drag a crop box around let me know, I'm not stupid or technologically inept, this program is just unintuitive and I've only been working on it for like three or four hours total, so... For this one I just need somebody to tell me "Click this, hold that, and drag" Thank you. Any help would be appreciated :]

If the video is in a 16:9 aspect ratio, the output clip is 320x180. But, as the title says, I want to have an output clip of 320x320, which extracts a square from the centre of the clip. If I resize the clip to width=320, height=320, the video is obviously stretched vertically and looks silly. My program handles multiple specific widths, so a width-adaptable solution would be appreciated. :)

Is there not a way to add a 2nd resize option that doesn't crop? I don't know why anyone would want to crop their artwork since it will remove part of the image and you have no control over where it is cropping.

I have an MP3 whose cover art is 2000x1125 pixels.

I want square album art with a max size of 1500x1500

I set max size to 1500

--with crop on, the result is a 1125x1125 image that is square, but has lost part of the image

--with crop off, the result is a 1500x843 image that is not square, just scaled down

What I want is an image that is 1500x1500 but that doesn't lose any part of the image. (edit: 1125x1125 isn't a problem, the goal is a squared image without cropping, but since the max size box is there I'm including that aspect though not a concern I have) The image will be stretched, but it is complete. Normally they aren't in wide landscape format, so the distortion isn't that noticeable. But a cropped image can be noticeable depending on the image being cropped. Some albums don't have square art, like if it was released in digipak format. This type of resize seems standard in any image viewer, I just have no idea how difficult it would be to port into your app. It's usually a check box to pin the 2nd dimension or scale independently, which is what I meant my "preserve aspect ratio".

Are there any articles about the best strategy to make images square? Padding seems intuitively the best strategy because there is not data loss. But I think in the first lesson it was suggested that the images should be cropped.

For a look at -- almost -- a good way to implement it, I give you the GFX. You see the selected crop in the finder. When you open the raw file in ACR, the crop is applied. If you want to use some other crop, you can change it, even as far as to include the whole sensor area, since the crop is not applied to the raw data.

The major commercial framing prints after the small "billfold" sizes are 8X10, 11X14, or for home printing 8.5X11. These really take serious cropping with the normal Sony or other APS-C or FF ratios.
