Each fall the Crofton Cardinals Marching Band (CCMB) and the Crofton High School Music Boosters welcome numerous regional high school marching bands to the Cardinal Classic, also known as "the Home Show," an annual Maryland Marching Band Association (MMBA) competition in the school's stadium. This large event offers a fun, day-long music experience for participating schools as well as our local community. The event kicks off with elementary and middle school students from Crofton area schools joining CCMB to play the National Anthem (see photo above). Then the competition is on! In the evening, while participating marching bands await the MMBA Awards Ceremony, the CCMB performs an exhibition of their current show.

Volunteers across all three Crofton High music programs, both students and adults, assist throughout the day, from selling tickets at the gate to escorting guest bands around campus to grilling burgers for Concessions and so much more. The event raises thousands of dollars for the entire Crofton High School Music Department.

Cardinal Classic 2026

On a somewhat rainy Saturday, October 3, seventeen area high school marching bands competed at the 2026 Cardinal Classic. Millersville University and the Crofton Cardinals Marching Band also wowed crowds at the end of the night with exciting exhibitions of their shows. The event brought nearly 2,400 visitors to Crofton High School.

Spectators and the participating marching bands reported the event to be "a great night" and "very well run." Over 100 volunteers shared their time, talents and smiles with the crowds throughout the day. The Music Boosters raised over $13K to benefit all three music programs at Crofton High, in large part due to the generosity of our sponsors, especially Fresh Market, Goss' Garage II and Mid-Atlantic Community Church.
