Trevor Mayhall
Director of Bands
Mr. Mayhall is originally from Kenton, TN, and was named the Director of Bands for Crockett County High School in 2024. During his time at Crockett County, the band has improved in quality, scope, and enrollment. The Crockett County High School band is a consistent recipient of Superior Ratings from the WTSBOA Concert Festival, as well as Superior ratings from marching contests. The Marching Cavaliers have also become consistent finalists at regional competitions in the area. Prior to his appointment at Crockett County, Mr. Mayhall has held positions at Gibson County School District as Assistant Band Director/Middle School Director, where the band was named the 2017 & 2018 Division 1 State Champions, and received the 2019 Sweepstakes Award. Mr. Mayhall also served Assistant Band Director/Middle School Director for Lexington High School in Lexington, TN, where he rebuilt the middle school band programs during the Covid-19 pandemic, and helped improve the high school band in quality and enrollment. He has also worked with many schools in Tennessee, including his alma mater Obion County Central High School, McNairy Central High School, Dyer County High School, Westview High School, and Milan High School. Mr. Mayhall is also an active drill writer for schools across the country who have been named Grand Champions, Class Winners, and qualify for the UIL 6A Area Marching Contest.
Mr. Mayhall has performed bassoon and contrabassoon with symphony orchestras in the area, including the Jackson Symphony, Union University Symphony Orchestra, and is on the sub-list for multiple others. Mr. Mayhall has also served as the assistant conductor of the Jackson Youth Symphony for three years. Mr. Mayhall holds a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he was awarded the "Outstanding Graduate Student in Wind Conducting" award. He also holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he graduated Cum Laude.
Professional memberships include NAfME, WTSBOA, TBA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and NASA. Mr. Mayhall resides in Bells, Tennessee with his fiancé Chloe, and their two cats, Phoebe and Mimsy.
Thomas Holcomb
Assistant Band Director & Choir Director
Mr. Thomas Holcomb is excited to join the Crockett County High School team as the assistant band director and choir director. He is a native of Puryear, Tennessee where he was a member of the Henry County High School Band under the direction of Mr. Kyle Graves. Mr. Thomas also was a member of the HCHS Madrigals, an auditioned 16-piece a cappella choir under the direction of Ms. Deanna Cook.
A recent summa cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Mr. Thomas has had the privilege to participate in numerous performing ensembles as a percussionist, pianist, and vocalist. Such ensembles include the UTM Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Aviators Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Small Jazz Group, and New Pacer Singers. He studied music education with Dr. Jody Blake, percussion with Dr. Brady Spitz and Dr. Austin Shoupe, and conducting with Dr. John Oelrich. Mr. Thomas has also served in various officer roles in UTM's music organizations including the UTM Percussion Society, where he served as treasurer and vice president, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, where he served as treasurer and warden.
During this time, Mr. Thomas has maintained heavy involvement in teaching and performing in the pageantry arts. The has served as a front ensemble technician for numerous high school programs including Milan High School, Westview High School, Lexington High School, and South Gibson County High School. He also co-founded Gibson County Consolidated Indoor Percussion, a scholastic indoor drumline comprised of students from both Gibson County High School and South Gibson County High School, where he both directed the ensemble and composed original music for their production. In 2024, Mr. Thomas marched marimba for the Music City Drum & Bugle Corps.
Currently, Mr. Thomas resides in Bells, TN with his cat, Freddie. In his spare time, Thomas can be found practicing piano or percussion, reading, or watching motorsports.
