Chinmoy Ranjan is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Science working in Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion. He obtained an Integrated MSc in Chemistry at IIT Kanpur (2002). Subsequently obtained a Ph.D. from Cornell University (2007) with specialisation in the area of theoretical and solid-state chemistry with application towards fuel cell electrocatalysis. Chinmoy has spent three years in the semiconductor industry developing novel chemical process for chip manufacturing (2007-2010). He later moved to academia at the Fritz Haber Institute in Berlin where he developed a new research program centered around water electrolysis (2010-2012). He has been a group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Chemical Energy Conversion (2012-2017) where he established a new group that specialised in carrying out in situ /operando investigations of electrocatalysts. Since 2017, at the Indian Institute of Science he has developed a research program around operando investitions of important electrochemical reactions.
