2. Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment for Peru
The Gutenberg–Richter b-value is thought to reflect the stress conditions in the crust; therefore, spatial and/or temporal variations of the b-value can provide important information regarding crustal tectonics. We investigate the variation of b-value along the western border of Peru in order to identified zones could potentially generate future large earthquakes as a consequence of the subduction process of the oceanic Nazca plate beneath the continental South American plate.

In this project, I have participated like a collaborator in the evaluation of the historical and instrumental seismic catalog for Peru, as well as in the analysis of seismic source modeling and the attenuation relationship. We used the CAPRA Probabilistic Risk Assessment software platform.

3. Calibration of the local magnitude scale (ML ) for Peru
4. Crustal structure of north Peru with Receiver Function
The determination of the magnitude is very important for quantifying the energy released by earthquakes. The first local magnitude scale (ML) was introduced in 1935 by Charles Richter for Southern California and is frequently used by several seismological agencies around the world for monitoring local and regional seismicity.The aim of this study is to propose a relationship that estimates ML from the inversion of the amplitudes of earthquakes recorded by broadband stations from the National Seismic Network (Red Sísmica Nacional - RSN) of the Geophysical Institute of Peru. These results will contribute to improving the calculation of the magnitudes of the earthquakes in Peru at local and regional distances.

To better understand the heterogeneous structure of northern Peru, we have used teleseismic data recorded at broadband seismic stations and analyzed Receiver Functions from each station in order to estimate for the first time the spatial variations in crustal thickness and the Vp/Vs ratio beneath all of these stations. We used mainly data collected by the Peruvian National Seismic Network, and also data from a regional seismic network, and the recent compilation of information on crustal thickness.

5. Seismic Anisotropy and Mantle Flow
6. Ambient Noise Tomography
We performed shear wave splitting analyses to investigate seismic anisotropy across the northern extent of the Peruvian flat-slab subduction. We used core-mantle refracted SKS, SKKS and PKS phases from teleseismic events (88° > Δ < 150°) recorded at 44 broadband seismic stations from the Peruvian permanent and portable seismic networks, and international networks (CTBTO, RSBR-Brazil, and Ecuador). These new results allow for the first time a unified understanding of the mantle dynamics of flat-slab subduction to be established along the entire length of the flat slab beneath Peru.

We are studying the upper crustal structure in northern Peru, for the propose we use cross-correlation of ambient seismic noise at 26 broadband stations from national and international networks. We reconstructing Rayleigh wave Green's functions were obtained after the frequency-domain normalization of the ambient noise recordings and stacking of 24 months of normalized data. Dispersion curves from phase velocity maps were inverted as a function of depth to obtain 2D shear wave velocity model of the upper crust.

7. P-wave seismic tomography
In this project, we are studying the upper-mantle velocity structure in northern Peru, with travel-time seismic tomography using P and PKIKP phases. Data were recorded between 2012 and 2018 at 44 stations distributed over the study area. The main objective is to imaging the upper-mantle structure and its relationship with the tectonic framework and the subduction zone.
