Materials You Need For Making Wedding Invitations

So before starting with the process, we are providing you with the list of materials you will need to make a wedding card so that you don’t get stuck in the middle of the wedding card-making process.

So, here is the list of the following materials you need to make a wedding card invitation:

  • Vellum InkJet Paper: Vellum InkJet paper is a unique material that is specifically used for printing. This material is available online on the Amazon store as well as offline in stores. So, finding it won’t be any difficulty for you.

  • Transparent PNG Graphic: For this tutorial, we have specifically used “Transparent PNG,” but you can use any graphic of your choice.

  • Cricut Cutting Machine: You can use any Cricut machine to make wedding cards; just make sure your Cricut machine has the pen tool. Machines like Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker can perform your task without any hassle.

Steps On How To Make Wedding Invitations

Before we move to the steps, we want you to please ensure that you have decided on your graphics for the wedding card. For example, we used “Transparent PNG Graphics.” Graphics are bitmap images that have the background removed, which makes the graphic image appear overlapped, and laying it over the text makes it even smoother to look at.

So let us start with the card-making process, so follow the following instructions:

Step 1: Transfer The Transparent PNG Graphics

The first step is to upload your PNG graphics; in our case, we have used the “Transparent PNG Graphics.” We recommend you use the “Complex” settings when uploading the graphics in your Cricut Design Space. When uploading the graphics, there is no need to select or erase anything on the page, as the “Select and Erase” function does not work properly. The background image is automatically removed when you upload your selected PNG image. After you’re done uploading, make sure to save your image in the Design Space with the “Save As A Print And Then Cut Image.”

Step 2: Segment The Graphics In The Cricut Design Space

Once you’re done uploading the graphics in your Cricut Design Space Canvas, you can customize your design by adding some touches according to your preferences, like rotating, resizing, duplicating, etc. This section of steps all depends upon your preferences, and there are endless possibilities you can do. We have followed the following process, you can follow us, or you can modify it according to your preferences:

  • Make a rectangle shape using the square shape tool in your Design Space; you can customize the size according to your preferences using the dimensions tool at the top.

  • Select any color of your choice and click on “Print As The Fill Color” for your rectangle.

  • Now, after painting the rectangle, place it onto your graphics; we recommend cutting two pieces at once and deleting the extra pieces outside your rectangle.

  • Now select all the internal white pieces from the right panel and weld them together.

  • Arrange your graphics in a specific order of your choice by selecting the rectangle and sending it back to Canvas by using the “Arrange” function in the top panel.

  • Now glue/ compress all the pieces of your graphics together.

Step 3: Write Text For Your Wedding Invitation Card

You can create your text overlay using the text tool from the options menu.

Things To Make Sure

When you're done writing your text, please ensure that every element is attached and your file is set to “Print.” You can select any color of your choice for the fill. And finally, don’t forget to select all the text and flatten it. Flattening text is necessary because if you skip the flattening process, Cricut will slice all the letters in the canvas. Also, make sure to attach your text and graphics and then flatten them.

Step 4: Your Card Is Ready!

And finally, your wedding card is ready.

Our Suggestions For You

  • Please ensure that your default bleeds settings for the print and cut functions are turned on, as it helps in adding extra colored patting around the cut if the cutting is not accurately done.

  • Don't get messed up if you see different lines around the design area.

  • If you observe any of the images or the text have lines near the borders, the images or text look different than you set. This means that you have made the part flattened, and that part of the text or image is not ready to be printed.

  • Keep in mind that different paper brands have different paper opacity, and each printer’s quality of printing is also different. The scanning mechanism might have a hard time on vellum print and cut tasks. We highly recommend you use a black marker for tracing the alignment of the lines, which in this situation, solves the problem.
