About

About CREEA | ACERE

The purpose of CREEA | ACERE is the advancement of knowledge in resource and environmental economics through the encouragement of education and research, meetings and other activities. CREEA | ACERE provides a forum for researchers and policy analysts in resource and environmental economics to share ideas, questions and research findings.

CREEA fulfills its mandate via an annual conference, organizing sessions at the Canadian Economics Association Annual Conference, and by hosting PhD workshops for emerging scholars.

History

The Canadian Resource and Environmental Economics Study Group was formed in 1991 and its inaugural conference was organized by John Livernois and Patrick Martin at the University of Guelph. Elizabeth Wilman used the acronym CREE in 1994 while organizing the conference at the University of Calgary, and it stuck. In 2018, the name changed to the Canadian Resource and Environmental Economics Association.

Administration

The CREEA constitution was adopted at the 2018 Annual Business Meeting, held during the 28th Annual Conference.

The elected officers of the Association consist of a chair, an incoming chair, the most immediate past chair available and three councillors. The CREAA executive consists of the chair, incoming chair, past chair, treasurer and a councillor.
