About the Quilter: From Corporate to Creative
My quilting journey began in the late 1980s, born from the desire to create handmade gifts for my family one Christmas. Like many makers, my early years in the craft were a dance of "starting and stopping"—juggling the beautiful craziness of life with the dedicated time quilting demands.
In the early 2000s, I found my way back to the sewing machine with a new sense of consistency. With tools and education becoming more accessible, my confidence grew, and quilting transitioned from a hobby into a true passion.
2018 marked a pivotal turning point when I invested in my first longarm machine. Though I walked into the MQX show in Manchester, NH, with very little knowledge of the machinery, I took a leap of faith—diving in head-first with the unwavering support of my husband, David.
I spent a year honing my skills in free-motion and ruler work. While I felt capable, I was still searching for that perfect "fit" for my style. In 2019, everything changed when I added a computerized quilting system to my machine. As a "techy at heart," the computer wasn't a hurdle—it was a welcomed challenge. I moved swiftly into the world of digital quilting designs and have never looked back.
A New Chapter: "I Quilted This!"
In 2021, I left the corporate world behind to follow my creative calling. Today, you can find me three days a week at Bits n' Pieces Quilt Shop in Pelham, NH, while I dedicate the rest of my time to running my own flourishing business.
Over the past seven years, I have finished hundreds of quilts. My work is driven by a dual mission: providing high-quality quilting for my customers and teaching longarm skills to those who want the pride of saying, "I quilted this!"
Now operating two machines across two locations, I am looking toward a future where I can open a dedicated commercial space. I envision a vibrant hub for the quilting community—a place where every quilter, regardless of experience, can walk out with a finished project and the confidence to say they quilted it themselves.
