Discover what is new on Earth
by Evaristo Alfaya
Hello. My name is Evaristo Alfaya, I am a science teacher at the Labor HighSchool in Vigo, Spain. I have been researching for myself a meteorite impact crater candidate on the Earth's surface (in NW Spain), since some years ago.
I have assembled three of the four steps to ensure its identity. The first one is about its geomorphology; the second was to find geochemical evidence on the ground where I found an extraterrestrial element in a high concentration: Iridium. And the third step is a geo-resistivity study of the soil that suggest profiles identical to other impacts. One last step remains: a drilling of the core looking for petrogeological samples to make a PDFs analysis which would irrefutably assure its identity.
In this last step we need help to finish it. A meteoric crater is not only a rarity but it would also be the first confirmed in the SW of Europe, specific in Spain, and would enter the exclusive club of craters recognized worldwide thanks to your help.

Located in NW of Spain, Europe at 910 m of altitude, close to the peak of the Montouto in Galicia Country. It is a circular structure with 110 m of diameter (a hectare of land) with a central ring
Sedimentary land in the center of the Impact that forms a lagoon in rainy time.
High density of rock fragments (ejecta) as a result of the impact, around the crater and absence of ejecta inside the crater.
The target rock is granite ( of a very thick grain).
The analyses revealed high presence of Iridium
