Crash Jam iOS Privacy Policy
Effective date: Mar 04, 2026
Crash Jam (“the App”) provides lane-level incident reporting and lane-aware, in-app alerts while Drive Mode is active. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.
a) Precise location (device location)
The App uses your device’s precise location to enable core features such as:
showing lane-aware alerts (“Live Ahead”) based on distance and direction (in-app), and
submitting lane incident reports near your current location.
The App accesses location only when you grant permission and when the feature requiring location (e.g., Drive Mode) is active. The iOS version is foreground-only and does not use background location.
b) Reports you submit (user-generated data)
When you submit a report, the App may send and store:
report location (latitude/longitude),
lane number and direction,
timestamp,
basic report metadata needed to group, display, and expire incidents.
c) Operational information (basic app/device info)
The App may process limited operational information needed to provide the service reliably (for example: app version and request status).
The App does not show ads and does not sell personal data.
d) TestFlight (Apple)
If you install the App using TestFlight, Apple may collect certain diagnostics (such as crash logs) to help developers improve beta apps. This data is handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
We use the collected data to:
provide lane-aware, in-app alerts while Drive Mode is active,
receive, store, and show incident reports,
improve reliability and prevent abuse (e.g., validation and rate limiting),
maintain and improve the accuracy of incident grouping.
Crash Jam uses a backend service provider to store and retrieve incident reports (for example, a database/API platform). Data is shared with the provider only to operate the App’s core features.
We do not share data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
During early rollout, Drive Mode / Live Ahead functionality may be limited to selected corridors (for example, Bay Area bridge corridors). Outside supported areas, the App may show a message and restrict Live Ahead behavior.
This geo-fence does not change your permissions: the App only accesses location if you grant permission and the feature is active.
Incident reports and related metadata may be retained as needed to operate the service, improve reliability, and support analytics/history. We may retain archived incident data for product improvement and review.
You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
You can stop using location-based features by turning off the relevant feature in the App (where available).
You can disable notifications in device settings (if enabled in a future version).
The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
