Crash Jam Android Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 8, 2026
Crash Jam (“the App”) provides lane-level blockage reporting and Live Ahead alerts. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App may access, how it is used, and your choices.
The App uses your device’s precise location to support core features such as:
showing reported lane blockages ahead in Live Ahead
estimating direction and distance for alerts
attaching location when you submit a lane report
The App accesses location only when you grant permission and the relevant feature is active, including when Crash Jam remains active through the CJ bubble or overlay.
When you submit a report, the App may send and store:
report location (latitude/longitude)
lane number
direction
timestamp
basic report metadata needed to group, display, validate, and expire incident reports
On Android, the App may request notification permission so it can deliver:
staged visual alerts
sound notifications
the optional Spoken Audio Alert
These notifications are used to provide heads-up warnings about reported lane blockages ahead.
The App may request permission to display over other apps so the CJ bubble and overlay can remain available while you use navigation or map apps.
This permission supports Android-specific features such as reopening Live Ahead or Report without leaving your current app.
The App may process limited operational information needed to provide the service reliably, such as:
app version
request status
basic diagnostic or reliability-related metadata
Crash Jam does not show ads and does not sell personal data.
We use the collected data to:
provide Live Ahead alerts and overlay-based functionality
receive, store, validate, and show lane blockage reports
deliver staged visual alerts, sound notifications, and the optional Spoken Audio Alert
improve reliability and reduce misuse, including validation and rate limiting
maintain and improve incident grouping, visibility, and service quality
Submitted reports may also be processed and shown in operational form so other users can see lane-specific hazards ahead.
Crash Jam uses a backend service provider to store and retrieve incident reports and related service data needed to operate the App.
We do not share data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Crash Jam is open to everyone, but current coverage is strongest in the Bay Area for now and may expand over time. Results depend on local usage, feature availability, and community reporting.
Incident reports and related metadata may be retained as needed to operate the service, improve reliability, support product review, and maintain historical or analytics-related functionality.
Archived incident data may also be retained for service improvement and internal review.
You can manage App permissions in your device settings.
For example, you can:
disable location access
disable notification permission
disable display over other apps / overlay access
stop using location-based or alert-related features by turning off the relevant feature in the App, where available
Please note that disabling certain permissions may limit how Crash Jam works.
The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
