Succinylcholine

Mechanism of Action: structurally very similar to acetylcholine and produces a depolarization of the motor endplate at the myoneural junction that causes skeletal muscle paralysis

Onset: 45 to 60 seconds

Duration: 6 to 10 minutes

Warning: numerous contraindications including hyperkalemia, malignant hyperthermia, > 5 days after burns/crush injury/neuromuscular disorder, bradycardia, hyperkalemia
