ARTICLE: 1
PREAMBLE
Craft Them Young Association was formed on the 17th day of April 2023 with a mission to promote and participate in development of the school children. The group is aimed at bringing all the students of the Gambia under one umbrella and to work together as one people in order to build a stronger relationship. This association shall contribute its quota to the development and advancement of the school children and hope to spread its wings in all direction in order to attain conducive teaching and learning toward the awareness of self believes. As a Craft Them Young we hope to make a difference. With the belief that unity, strength, honesty, transparency and the rule of law, we are set to achieve these aims and objectives. Having agreed to come together as a family (Association), determined to protect and support our individual and collective effort for the common good. The students of different schools in the Gambia including some staff of Maarif Gambia agreed to form this association.
We, the Staff of Maarif Gambia, hereby formed this association herein referred to as “Craft Them Young association”.
ARTICLE 2:
NAME AND ADDRESS
2.1 The association shall be called CRAFT THEM YOUNG.
2.3 The address of the association shall be Palma, Kololi.
2.4 The Association shall be charitable, non- political, social and academic based and shall operate on voluntary basis.
2.5 The logo of the association shall be the captioned logo above.
2.6 The motto shall be STUDENTS FOR CARING AND SHARING.
ARTICLE 3:
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objectives of the association are as follows:
3.1 To create an avenue for the unification of students in The Gambia.
3.2 To create academic advancement of its registered members and for all.
3.3 To increase general awareness on the importance of self-sustenance among members.
3.4 To collaborate with other associations, bodies or individuals whether national or international and creating strategic plans to empower the members to be job creators and not job seekers.
3.5 To sensitize and educate people on effects of early marriage, tribalism, gender equality, school dropout, and journey into the Mediterian Sea.
3.6 To participate and discuss national issues affecting the environment.
3.7 To help in shaping the younger generation through mentoring and creating platforms.
3.8 To create a path for youths to take up leadership roles in their communities, nation and the outside world.
ARTICLE 4:
MEMBERSHIP AND MEETINGS
4.1 Membership shall be open to all male, female and ex students.
4.2 The association makes no distinction regarding religion, tribe, occupation, class or social status.
4.3 All members shall be committed to upholding this constitution and to the realization of the aims and objectives of the association.
4.4 There shall be a monthly general meeting.
4.5 All members should attend meetings regularly.
4.6 Any member who has an issue which needs to be urgently addressed at a meeting shall summon an emergency meeting by writing to the executive.
4.7 The executive shall upon receipt of the written request for an emergency meeting, convene the meeting within seven (7) days.
4.8 An annual review session shall be held once every year at such time and the place or venue shall be determined by the executive.
4.9 The president of the executive shall assume the chair of the meetings or delegate any member in his absence.
4.10 Congress shall be held every year and three weeks prior notice shall be given to the members.
4.11 The chairman’s report, secretary general’s activity report and treasurer’s financial report and other relevant documents shall be made available to members three weeks prior to congress.
4.12 Membership shall be automatically terminated if a member dies, resigns, is certified to be of unsound mind by a recognized medical practitioner or it may be terminated by the executive committee if the member fails to meet his or her financial obligations, fails to attend three consecutive meetings deliberately or acts in contravention with the aims and objectives of the association.
4.13 Provided that no person’s membership shall be terminated by the executive committee unless the Executive committee had issued the member a written warning which he fails to adhere to and a hearing conducted.
ARTICLE 5:
FINANCE
5.1 Revenue for the association will be from the following;
A. Contributions from members.
B. Loans
C. Grants
D. Project proposals
E. Fund raisers
5.2 The association shall give support to any member, who has a programme.
5.3 The association shall open accounts with any credible financial institution legally operating in The Gambia.
5.4 The authorized signatories to the account shall be the CEO, President, Secretary General and the Treasurer. They shall equally be held accountable for any mismanagement of the funds.
5.5 Any of the two authorized signatories shall validate any financial transaction of the association.
5.6 Official receipts or payment vouchers shall be issued for any income received or payment made in the name of the association and on no account shall temporary documentation be used.
5.7 Any credit given to any individual member or association shall be approved by the executive and the general body notified.
ARTICLE 6:
EXECUTIVE MEMBERS
6.1 The association shall be administered by the executive committee. It shall report to the General Body through the Chairman of the executive. The executive committee shall comprise the following officers:

6.2 Every member of the association has the right to contest for any of the executive posts in the association.
6.3 The term limit for any executive post is one year.
ARTICLE 7:
FUNCTION OF EXECUTIVE MEMBERS
7.1 To take care of the day-to-day affairs of the committee.
7.2 To enforce the constitution of the association.
7.3 To carry out the policies and programmes of the association as lay down by the General Body.
7.4 To initiate and undertake all activities and objectives of the committee.
7.5 To deal with all other matters affecting the association.
7.6 To coordinate and administer projects of the association.
ARTICLE 8:
THE PRESIDENT
The President shall be the overall head of the association. He/she shall;
8.1 Summon meetings and prepare the agenda together with the Secretary General and if possible other executive members with the support of the advice team.
8.2 Preside over all meetings of the association and ensure that rules and regulations are adhered to.
8.3 Delegate a vacant post in the Executive Committee until it is filled.
8.4 Be signatory to CRAFT THEM YOUNG accounts and financial transactions.
8.5 Negotiate, promote and advocate on behalf of CRAFT THEM YOUNG.
8.6 All the above functions shall be duly observed by the first and the second Vice President in the case that the president is absent.
ARTICLE 9:
SECRETARY GENERAL
The Secretary General shall be the custodian of all records and clerical materials of the association and shall:
9.1 Be responsible for CRAFT THEM YOUNG correspondence.
9.2 Record and keep all meetings of the committee (General or Executive).
9.3 Compile and prepare a comprehensive report of all activities and programmes.
9.4 Be a signatory to `CRAFT THEM YOUNG accounts and financial transactions.
9.5 Draw up the agenda of meetings together with the President and other executives.
ARTICLE 10:
ASSITANT SECRETARY GENERAL
While helping the Secretary General, the Assistant Secretary General shall;
10.1 Keep a record of members’ attendance at meetings and functions.
10.2 Act on behalf of the Secretary General where the latter is absent.
10.3 Carry out any other duty assigned by the Secretary General.
ARTICLE 11:
TREASURER
Being the financial controller of the Committee, the Treasure shall;
11.1 Keep a cash book in which all financial transactions of the Committee are recorded.
11.2 Be a signatory to the bank account of the association.
11.3 Make his records available to the Auditor as and when required.
11.4 Present periodic financial reports during Executive meetings or meeting of the General Body.
11.5 Disburse or spend funds according to set rules with the approval from the Executive.
11.6 Make deposits of funds received at the bank not more than 72 hours after receiving funds and provide the Auditor with the necessary banking details
ARTICLE 12:
AUDITOR
In addition to monitoring and checking on all financial transactions, the Auditor shall;
12.1 Audit the records of the treasurer at least once every month.
12.2 Advice and make recommendations to the general body and the executive on all financial matters.
12.3 Periodically report the state of the association finances to the executive or general body.
12.4 In the absences of the treasurer and the assistant, be responsible for all financial matters as delegated by treasurer.
ARTICLE 13:
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
By serving as the association’s liaison officer, the PRO shall;
13.1 Act as the spokesperson of the association.
13.2 Carry out any other duty assigned to him by the general body.
13.3 Disseminate accurate and standard information without any ambiguity.
ARTICLE 14:
SOCIAL SECRETARY
14.1 Co-ordinate social functions and fundraising activities of the association, as head of the organizing committee.
14.2 Draw up strategic plans for mobilizing resources for the association.
14.3 Mobilize resources for the association to facilitate effective implementation of the activities of the association.
14.4 Advise the executive committee and the general body on how to effectively manage, make better use of and maximize the existing resources of the association.
14.5 To give an account of any resource the association is able to gather within the year and its status at the end of the year to the treasurer for onwards transmission to the general body.
14.6 Carry out any other duty assigned to him by the general body.
ARTICLE 15:
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
15.1 All amendments to the constitution shall be subject to the approval of at least 2/3 majority vote of the members present at any General Meeting of the association. The constitution shall not be reviewed and or amended more than once in any period of twelve consecutive months.
15.2 No resolution or motion for the alteration or amendments of the constitution shall be discussed at a general meeting unless notice of the proposed resolution, motion stating the nature of the alterations or amendments, is submitted to the Secretary General not later than seven (7) days before the date of the General Meeting.
15.3 This document and any part there of remain the property of CRAFT THEM YOUNG and any unauthorized alteration in any form and by any means whatsoever is strictly prohibited. Violations would warrant legal actions against offenders.
ARTICLE 16:
DISSOLUTION
16.1 The association shall be dissolved if 2/3 of the members file a motion of dissolution, which shall be brought before a general meeting called for that purpose. Within thirty (30) days of the receipt of the motion by the chairperson and provided ¾ quarter of the general members vote in favor of the dissolution, the decision shall be carried.
16.2 In the event of the Association being dissolved as provided above, all debts and liabilities legally incurred on behalf of the association shall be fully discharged and the remaining funds if any should be given to an association which is doing similar things as that of CRAFT THEM YOUNG.
16.3 Where the existing assets cannot meet the existing liabilities at the time of the dissolution, all members remain liable to settle such liabilities.
16.4 The members of the Executive Committee and other acting officers of the Association acting in relation to any affairs of the association shall be indemnified against any liability incurred by the discharge of their duty.
ARTICLE 17:
ARBITRATION
17.1 An Appeal Board comprising a representative of the executive and four other members from the general membership shall be constituted at a general meeting.
17.2 Apart from the representative of the Executive Committee any other member shall be elected to chair such Board.
17.3 The complainant shall have a member of his choice to represent him at the Board in pursuance of his petition.
17.4 The decision of the board shall be final and binding on all parties.
ARTICLE 18:
BINDING CLAUSE
18.1 This constitution is binding on all the members of this Association and going against its provisions shall warrant the automatic termination of the membership of such a member.
18.2 This Constitution is adopted at Palma Rima, Kololi on the 17th day of April, 2023.
