CAD Lab

The Culture and Adolescent Development (CAD) Lab is dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of the complex interplay between psychology, culture, and the development of young individuals. Through rigorous research and interdisciplinary collaborations, our lab strives to shed light on how sociocultural factors shape the emotional, cognitive, social, and identity development of adolescents and emerging adults.

In the CAD Lab, we currently explore a wide range of topics including (1) influences of culture and parenting on adolescent risk-taking, (2) social media and adolescent identity exploration, (3) cross-cultural comparison of the emerging adult core features, and (4) the role of prejudicial attitudes in language and stigmatizing behavior among emerging adults. Our research approach incorporates both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, allowing us to uncover the nuanced dynamics of sociocultural influences on the development of adolescents and emerging adults.

Through our investigations, we seek to inform evidence-based practices and interventions that promote positive youth outcomes in diverse cultural and social contexts. Our lab members are passionate about contributing to the field of developmental psychology by generating knowledge that is not only theoretically grounded but also applicable in real-world settings.
