What kind of research does Dr. Raque do?
Currently, Dr. Raque is heading The Health, Oncology, Meaning-Making, Equity and Empowerment (H.O.M.E.E.) research lab which is comprised of doctoral and master’s students in the Counseling Psychology Department at the University of Denver.
What would I do in her lab?
Our lab is committed to addressing cancer care inequities and increasing access to affirmative cancer care. Recent research conducted by the lab includes the topics of providing affirmative care to LGBTQI+ individuals with cancer, integrating Multicultural Orientation into cancer care, cultivating self-compassion in cancer survivors and oncology providers, applying Relational Cultural Theory to cancer survivorship, and addressing cancer survivors’ access to decent work as an equity issue.
Past and current projects include:
"Activating Happiness" Project: lab partnership with Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers (RMCC) to design a four-week, 90-minute manualized, positive psychology and mindfulness-based group research intervention for cancer survivors and caregivers; interventions included psychoeducation and skill building for mindfulness, gratitude, and forgiveness
"Work and Cancer" Project: lab partnership with the New York City-based advocacy organization Cancer and Careers exploring the impact of cancer on the work lives of cancer survivors
Guided group discussion about individual experiences of cancer and caregiving
Multicultural Orientation applied to cancer care for LGBTQI+ survivors
Work lives and career development of young breast cancer survivors
Examining a model of restoring well-being after a diagnosis of breast cancer
A self-compassion expressive writing intervention for college women to improve body image
Exploring the importance of meaningful work in the physical and mental well-being of cancer patients and survivors

Can I participate in her lab without attending lab meetings?
No, only students who regularly attend the lab meetings can participate.
