It was just one year ago when teachers made a stand and let legislators know that students, districts, and teachers deserved more financial support and higher teacher salaries. Nov 19, 2019, was a monumental day that led to laying the groundwork for change in the state of Indiana. Unfortunately, we are afraid some of that state-wide momentum has been lost within the context of the current pandemic.
Despite everything going on, legislators still need to feel the pressure of districts and teachers as we perform "essential" duties for our communities across the state.
The big "ask" for the 2021 Legislative Session and biennial state budget this year is:
NO CUTS to Education Spending
Though we may not be able to replicate the loud voices we used a year ago, there is still work to be done.
To show our support for this position we are asking everyone to WEAR RED on WEDNESDAYS. Teachers, administrators, staff, students, and families are working hard to keep quality education going at this time and we believe Indiana's legislators should recognize and support these efforts.
Send pictures of you and your colleagues wearing RED FOR ED to crownpointeducationassociation@gmail.com --whether it be a self or group picture -- we would love to post them to our website.
