Clouds in the sky take various forms, sizes, and colors, are fun to watch. But, in fact it has a big impact on climate because it reflects sun shine and absorb/emit radiation from the earth. Clouds are a part of the energy and hydrological cycle of the Earth.
Rainfall is essential for us and living things. Yet, too much precipitation amount can trigger disasters like floods and landslides. On the hander hand, too little precipitation (drought) can lead to a lack of water resource and damages in agriculture.
We carry out fundamental and applied research on clouds and precipitation phenomena, aiming to understand the physics behind better and to improve weather forecasting/climate prediction.
