Some documents dedicated to Adapted Physical Activity (APA) lovers, practitioners and professionals, non-profit/non-governmental organisation and private companies providing APA services.
Many people practising Adapted Physical Activity are living either with disability, chronic diseases and/or are older.
In the context of the Coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19), many questions may concern the practitioners:
Can I resume my usual daily life activities, like my APA, as soon as possible without any risk of being contaminated?
Do I need to remain very careful because my condition looks like some condition of people who have been very sick because of COVID-19?
What should I do regarding my APA sessions if I have signs of the coronavirus disease and how long do I have to wait before I can restart my activities in my APA group, if I have been sick?
To guide users of adapted physical activity services in their free choices, we offer 3 educational tools which follow the following goals:
# 1. To estimate if I could be in a similar situation as some people who have been very sick from coronavirus.
# 2. To check before every APA session that I do not have any symptoms likely to be suggestive of Coronavirus.
# 3. To trace all the people I have been in close contact with, few days before in my daily life and during my APA sessions.
These three educational materials are freely available to APA practitioners and professionals.
The tools are available in French. Translation in other languages and Easy-to-Read production are welcome !
Some people may meet serious health issues due to Coronavirus. People among those who were more severely sick due to Covid-19 are more likely to face some specific situations. If I practice Adapted Physical Activity usually, I take few minutes to have a look on the sheet of situations that could require to take some careful precautions.
If I find myself in one or more of these conditions, I could decide in cooperation with my APA professional about protective measures against the Coronavirus which will be the most suitable regarding my health status.

People who get the Coronavirus may have 1) no symptoms, 2) light to moderate symptoms, or 3) more severe symptoms. Before joining to my Adapted Physical Activity (APA) session, I focus on my health thanks to the attached checklist of symptoms.
If I feel I have some symptoms (if I have had some recently or if I have been in contact with someone who has these symptoms), I avoid participating. I contact my doctor (or emergency if necessary) and I inform my professional in APA.

A patient infected by Coronavirus can transmit the disease to others even if he/she has no symptom. In order to limit the transmission of the virus, it may be necessary to identify the people who the patient was in narrow contact with, during the days preceding his/her first symptoms or since their onset.
People who practice Adapted Physical Activity (APA) can use the contact logbook to write there all the people they meet and interact every day in their daily live.
To access to all the different formats of the French logbook folder: here or send your request by e-mail here.
The 2 first tools are open access. They are available in 2 different versions (detailed or simplified). The third one, also in open access, is proposed in 4 different versions (Recto verso Compact, enlarged view, without day and no limit). All the tools are available in their 2 formats (printable PDF or editable Word). These documents aim to help APA service users in their daily life choices facing with the risk of coronavirus infection. These tools can be used to support the discussion between APA practitioners and APA professionals to decide together on the best protective measures to adopt around sessions of adapted physical activity (before, during and after each session). These documents also strongly suggest APA practitioners to monitor their health status regularly before each collective session, not to participate in their APA sessions if they have symptoms or in the weeks following the onset of Coronavirus symptoms, while the presence of their APA professional or other people. The possibilities of resuming APA (and the delays for a safe comeback) will be discussed in agreement with the practitioner’s general practitioner (GP) or medical specialist if they have contracted the coronavirus (tested positive or suspected of being sick due to characteristic signs).
The card allowing me, as an APA practitioner, to estimate if my condition could be comparable in a way to people having had severe forms of COVID, and if I should consider a special attention to avoid to get infected by the coronavirus.
Some APA practitioners may meet varying degrees of difficulties while applying protective measures against infections, due to functional limitations, financial difficulties, problems with understanding or behavioural particularities. This sheet allows everyone to express this kind of difficulties, and to plan with their APA professional, the implementation of the most suitable measures for them.
Statistics on people who have developed more severe forms of the coronavirus disease show that they are more likely to cope with certain conditions than people who were asymptomatic or moderately symptomatic. Among these conditions, for example, we find: being older, living with specific chronic diseases or some disabilities, having a weaker immune system, etc... The second part of the sheet allows practitioners to consider if they are affected by one or more of these conditions. Then, these people can choose either i) to still apply themselves strict protective measures despite the favourable evolution of the general epidemic context, ii) to gradually resume their daily activities while strictly respecting a protective attitude or iii) to relax according to the protective measures, the constraints becoming too heavy to bear with, in a long term. This tool should also promote communication between APA practitioners and their APA professionals. It helps also to engage in a shared-decision process for the establishment of personal rules adapted to each personal situation.
The form allowing me to check before each APA session that I do not have any symptoms of Coronavirus.
If there is no sign of COVID-19, I can decide to do my session with the APA professional and with other practitioners, in the case of a group session (within the limits authorized by the ongoing rules, of course). I can also choose not to start again for the moment and delay my comeback. In this case, the APA professional can offer me alternative ways to practice my APA for a certain period.
In case of symptoms, I contact my doctor to be advised about medical action to implement (or I contact emergencies in case of serious symptoms such as breathing difficulties). I inform my APA professional about my health status and refrain from participating in APA sessions to avoid the virus transmission to professionals or to other participants. I stop my sessions if significant symptoms occur and I discuss with my doctor and my professional in APA the possibilities and conditions for resuming my sessions. As soon as the infectious symptoms allow it and after having the green fire from my doctor, I could start again an APA by individual sessions provided either remotely by videoconference for example or in presence of my APA professional alone (at home or in my bedroom if I live in a home-/care-centre, according to my situation). I do my best then to respect the protective measures (mask, handwashing, physical distancing…)
The third tool is a diary of people recently met by and who interact with APA practitioners and professionals. Also freely available, this additional document is presented in a compact version, and several enlarged versions with / without days or without limit, in Word (modifiable) or PDF (printable) format. The documents in their different formats can be downloaded by clicking on the links below, by simple request by email to r2econsult [a] gmail .com or by clicking here (please put in the object 'Toolbox , APA-Covid ').

The APA practitioner and his / her APA professional can update their individual logbook of the people with whom they have been in close and prolonged interaction (including in their daily life activities or during their APA sessions) in order to be able to trace all their recent contacts if necessary. Thus all can contribute, on a voluntary and civic basis, to limit the spread of the virus. This doesn’t require any electronic entry of personal data. Therefore, this tool aims to be as respectful as possible of the privacy of its users.
We remain at your disposal to answer any question on the use of this tool and assist you in any related steps.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us in such cases by email at r2econsult [a]gmail .com or by clicking here (with 'ToolBox, APA-Covid’ as object). If necessary and upon your request, this email contact allows us to communicate with the logbook users (APA practitioner, relatives, care providers and APA professionals), especially if one among them contracted the Coronavirus or if one of his relatives was affected, in compliance with the highest professional discretion required, of course.
In daily living activities, we are exposed to variable risk level of being contaminated by the Coronavirus. An infographic was published in June 2020. It summarizes the risk levels which varies according to whether we are:
Indoor or outdoor,
Close or distant,
Depending on the duration of exposure,
According to the number of people who are present and the size of the place available
In certain situations of forced exhalation (coughing, sneezing, singing, shouting ...)
And obviously depending on the percentage of infected people around.
The basic recommendation: We keep a face mask whenever the distance with the others cannot be preserved.
The infographic, initially available in English (see above), has been translated into French (see the page in French).

The rehabilitation needs of people who have or have had COVID-19 are various. We invite you to discover a global assessment tool of their needs. This telephone interview guide called 'C19-YRS' was developed by using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF/CIF Organisation Mondiale de la Santé/ World Health Organization) as a theoretical framework, by Sivan et al. from Leeds (United Kingdom). It is currently available in English.
We propose to pluridisciplinary rehab teams, a French speaking version of the C19-YRS in a PDF version or in a Word version (Authors are friendly acknowledged for giving their agreement for translation and dissemination)
The original article is the following: "Assessing the long-term rehabilitation needs of COVID-19 survivors using of a telephone screening tool (C19-YRS tool) ". It can be viewed here. The original English version of C19 -YRS can be downloaded from the ACNR website in its PDF version or in its Word version. You can use freely. An Excel file allowing to automatically export the answers can be requested by contacting the author of the article.
