Alexis Gravel

I am a former student of the Paris School of Economics and of the ENS Paris-Saclay. I started to work in the field of health economics by doing my master thesis on the inequality of access to preventive health care amongst people with disabilities. I have also worked for two years doing statistical analysis on the spending of the French healthcare insurance for the French Ministry of Health. I am actually working as a research assistant in the University of Los Andes in Bogotá.

Manuel Fernandez

I am an assistant professor at the Economics Department at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. I do research on labor and health economics, mostly applied and with a focus on Latin American countries. I am currently working on the causes and consequences of the judicialization of access to health care, the impact of public programs on maternal mortality and morbidity, and the determinants and evolution of income inequality. I did my PhD in Economics at the University of Oxford. After graduation, I worked as a researcher at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), University of Essex. Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked at the Office of the Chief Economist for Latin America at the World Bank.

David Bardey

David is full professor at the Economics Department at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia and visiting fellow at Toulouse School of Economics, France. His main research agenda is in health economics, but he also works in industrial organization, competition policy, contract theory and labour economics. In health economics, his research deals with the two-sidedness of some healthcare markets structure, providers’ payment schemes properties, drugs price regulations, genetic testing and personalized medicine. He did his PhD in Economics at the University of Franche-Comté, a post-doc at the University of Mons (Belgium) and had been hired at the University of Toulouse (department of economics) in 2003. In 2005 he moved to Colombia and now worked at Universidad de Los Andes. He also does some consulting for public and private sectors as well as for multilateral agencies.
