School Closures:
Bay Area

School officials in six Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Marin, San Mateo and San Francisco) announced on April 7 that schools will remain shuttered through the rest of the academic year. Schools will not likely reopen until the new school year, which starts in August or September, depending on the district and school. San Francisco and San Mateo counties have already developed robust distance learning programs, and Chromebooks are available to borrow for students in grades 3-12.

Meals can be picked up at locations across San Francisco, primarily on Mondays & Wednesdays from 11am-12pm. Flyers in multiple languages (Vietnamese, Spanish, Arabic, etc.) are available here. This map offers an overview of free school lunch options across the Bay Area; please confirm on your school district’s website (linked on page) before making the trek.
