ADDITIONAL COVID-19 VACCINE DOSE FOR 65+

CDC and ACIP met on 2/28/2024 to discuss the need for older adults to receive an additional dose of Covid-19 Vaccine. Meeting slides (click the link to view their rationale). Takeaway: adults over 65 are eligible for an additional dose of Covid-19 vaccine provided their most recent dose was at least 4 months ago. Individuals under 65 are still eligible to receive a dose of 2023-2024 vaccine if they have not yet gotten one.

Anyone over the age of 12 is indicated for Spikevax (Moderna's commercially available vaccine). Children under and including the age of 11 are indicated for Moderna's formulation specifically for those age 6 months through 11 years of age. Be sure to schedule according to the age of the person being vaccinated below.

Of note, this vaccine is no longer provided to us for free. We will continue to bill pharmacy insurance providers. However, your insurance may restrict where you can go to get the vaccine. We recommend that you provide your insurance information either via upload to the scheduling form, or by contacting the pharmacy to ensure coverage before your appointment. If you do not have pharmacy insurance coverage, you are eligible to receive vaccine for free from specified vaccine providers. Booster doses for children over the age of 12 and adults, available as Spikevax

When the online scheduling site is operational, appointments will run from 8:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday. Appointment slots will be released on a two week window with new appointments released on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. If you or your child have previously received a dose of an COVID-19 vaccine it will need to have been at least 2 months since their most recent dose. You will need to provide this information when scheduling your/their appointment.

Booster doses for children aged 5-11 years old

We can provide booster doses to children as young as 5. Appointments will run from 8:30 to 4:00 Monday through Friday. Appointment slots will be released on a two week window with new appointments released on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. If your child has previously received a dose of an COVID-19 vaccine it will need to have been at least 2 months since their most recent dose. You will need to provide this information when scheduling their appointment.
