Perfect viewer has a nice library interface that follows folder structure and reader isn't bad but would like in vertical reading mode that it would stop between pages instead of continuous scrolling like kuro does. Also dosent read Metadata from the files.

Challenger comic viewer. (which I thought use to suck). I can add main folder as library and keep sub folders in view and has a lot of options for reader. Gets regular updates latest was a few weeks ago. No meta data but not a need for it. Just enable/disable library folders based on what your reading. Example. Enable marvel library when read g from them and disable rest. And so on.

Comic rack. Was still good but never cared for it when it was out on Android and still felt that way. It had major problem with huge library. It was also buggy in library. Double fonts, and wouldn't read metadata that was made by pc version of comic rack past about 1400 cbz files. Dead on updates as you all know

We took the Windows PC version of Cover-Comic Reader out for a test drive and found it to be a user-friendly option to enjoy your digital comic book collection from the comfort of your PC, tablet or Windows Phone.

The first order of business with Cover-Comic Reader is to establish your library sources. The opening page will display the comic title you currently are reading and thumbnail images of your library collection. There is a library button in the upper right corner of the main page that will allow you to import files from a local storage folder, OneDrive, Dropbox or a network connection. The cloud access is a great option for your Windows Phone or tablet where storage space may be limited.

Once you have selected your file source, the library will be populated and you are ready to dive into your comic book collection. App commands are available from the menu button that rests in the upper left corner of the screen.

The reading display does support dual-page display and has a set of commands that are independent of the library display. These options include a night mode setting, tagging a book as a favorite, pin a book to your Start Screen, adjust the fit of the comic, toggle between one and two page views and enable the manga mode.

Selecting the night mode will pull up a slider that will adjust the brightness of the display. The manga mode changes the reading direction from left to right to right to left, optimized for the Japanese style of comic books.

Page turns are done by swiping at the screen and keyboard controls are available for the times you are using Cover-Comic Reader from a non-touch PC. Graphic quality is nice and comics were displayed in natural colors and easy to read the text. Should you need to zoom in to read the smaller text, the reader can be pinched to zoom.

I grew up where comic books cost less than a quarter and the selection could be contained in a single, spindle rack at the drug store. Today we've got complete storefronts are dedicated to comic books. Or should I say graphic novels? Needless to say, I'm a relative newbie to the digital comic book realm and found Cover-Comic Reader to be an easy introduction to these digital publications.

I have the Sychronize my Devices setting checked on both my surface and desktop. My surface is mapped to the desktops network drive, so both have the same comics. Any ideas why they wouldn't sync between devices?

I have comics on my laptop (asus zenbook s13 flip). I downloaded Cover Comic Reader (and considering buying the unlimited version). I have multiple comics like Detective comics, Action comics, Batman comics etc. When I upload them in the library the are all together. Is there a way where I can organize them into subfolders so that all detective comics are one library and action comics in another and so on. I don't want all of my comics to be mixed up. Is there any way to do that?

The Comic Reader (TCR) was a comics news-fanzine published from 1961 to 1984. Debuting in the pre-direct market era (before the proliferation of comics retailers), TCR was the first regularly published comics industry news fanzine, and was able to secure many contacts from within the ranks of the larger publishers. As TCR increased in popularity and influence, it was able to attract professional artist to illustrate the covers. TCR also proved to be a launching pad for aspiring comic book creators, many of whom published work in the fanzine as amateurs. Contributors from the world of fandom included founding editor Jerry Bails, key editor Paul Levitz, Paul Kupperberg, Tony Isabella, Byron Preiss, Neal Pozner, Don Rosa, Carl Gafford, and Doug Hazlewood.

The fanzine was founded in 1961 as On the Drawing Board by Jerry Bails, the "Father of Comics Fandom", changing its name to The Comic Reader in 1962 and being named the official bulletin of the Academy of Comic-Book Fans and Collectors (ACBFC). During its run, TCR won a number of industry awards, including the Alley Award and the Goethe Award/Comic Fan Art Award. In its last incarnation, published by Street Enterprises, it was more professional magazine than fanzine, and was known colloquially as "the TV Guide of the comics industry".[1]

Jerry Bails founded and published On the Drawing Board in October 1961, to showcase the latest comic news.[2] Spinning-off from Bails' other zine, Alter Ego (after appearing for three issues as a column within that publication), On the Drawing Board "was devoted to blurbs and news items pertaining to upcoming events in pro comics".[3]

In January 1964, Bails announced the merger of The Comic Reader with another of his fanzines, The Comicollector, under the editorship of Bill White.[4] However, a death in White's family prevented the merger from happening, at which point Florida-based published G. B. Love merged The Comicollector into his own fanzine Rocket's Blast, as well as offering to absorb The Comic Reader.[5] The ACBFC board, however, voted to maintain TCR as a standalone publication, and in mid-1964 New Mexico-based comics enthusiast Glen Johnson stepped forward to take over editorial duties.[6]

Under Levitz's editorship, TCR increased circulation (going monthly after a previous schedule of eight issues per year) and changed format, usually featuring an illustrated cover and typically 16 pages in length. As the zine gained in popularity and influence, it was able to attract industry professionals, such as Jack Kirby,[9] Rich Buckler,[10] Walt Simonson,[11] and Howard Chaykin,[12] to illustrate the covers. During this period, TCR won two Best Fanzine Comic Fan Art Awards.[13] Due to his work on the zine, Levitz became well known at the offices of DC Comics, where he eventually ended up working for the company for over 35 years in a wide variety of roles.

In November 1973, with issue #101, Wisconsin-based publisher Street Enterprises took over TCR,[1] and Mike Tiefenbacher took over as editor. Under Street Enterprises' oversight, TCR changed format to digest size, giving it even more the impression of being "the TV Guide of the comics industry".[1] The magazine also began licensing its U.S. comics news material to the British fan press, particularly Richard Burton's Comic Media News and Martin Lock's BEM.[16]

The emergence of Amazing Heroes in 1981, published by Fantagraphics Books, ate into TCR's readership. As long-time Fantagraphics co-publisher Kim Thompson put it: "If you want to look at it cynically, we set out to steal The Comic Reader's cheese. Which we did".[18] 2351a5e196
