I. Introduction
II. Our Covenant
Paragraph 3, Statements 4-5; Paragraph 4
We must support the life of the community with our material and financial resources. All this is simply to take responsibility for those the Lord has given us; to be a new family, members of the same body, brothers and sisters working together in the mission He is entrusting to us as a people.
We desire to put our lives into His hands completely, and follow Him as a people wherever He may lead.
III. In other words
In this community, we experience the reality of being a new family together beyond blood relations. Dito sa Ligaya, damang dama natin ang ating pagiging magkakapatid sa lahat ng pagkakataon, sa tuwa man o sa hapis.
We work together collaboratively, side by side with each other, using our varied gifts at the service of the Lord and others. Synodality is, in fact, what describes the way we operate in community.
Through regular tithing and generosity with our material resources, we support our internal life and mission work. We value responsible stewardship and accountability for all the resources God has given us.
We gratefully acknowledge that our leaders serve us through the gift of governance. As one body together, we listen to the Lord’s words to us, discern together with guidance from the Spirit and in unison pursue the direction that He shows us.
IV. In God’s Word
When God speaks, He does not only tell us about the things He wants us to do but the reasons behind his instructions. Contributing material and financial resources to support the common life and mission is an important practice in any community. God delights in every effort to build the community and sustain its growth.
1. Read the following Scriptures reflectively:
Proverbs 11:24-25 Refresh others
Malachi 3:10-12 Bring the full tithes
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Give joyfully
1 Timothy 6:17-19 Be willing to share
2 Corinthians 9:10-15 Giving yields thanksgiving
Romans 12: 9-13 Mutual love and service
Romans 14:13,19 Build each other up
John 14:26 You have an Advocate
John 16:13a The Holy Spirit teaches us
2. Allow the Lord to touch your heart with His words. Let Him refresh you with new insights about these aspects of our Covenant life. Thank the Lord for our way of life.
V. In my own words
1. “Not by blood, but by God’s Spirit.” How have I personally experienced the reality of our relationships as brothers and sisters in the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon?
2. How am I doing in my commitment to tithe regularly in order to support the community’s life and mission? How can I grow further in sharing my financial / material resources to contribute to those in need and to support God’s work in our country and in Asia?
3. Discernment means carefully sifting and weighing the reasons why one option is better or even the best among the other option(s). At this stage of the Review and Discernment Process, I am already in a good place to finally decide.
I will write my personal reasons why I will renew or accept the Covenant Commitment to the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Community.
If I have another decision, I will also write my reasons why.
