I was tasked with creating a unit on William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. We focused on the aspects of a tragic hero, characterization, modernization of a text, and I was able to throw in some of my theatrical knowledge, too! Below, find the Essential Question and short summary of what I needed to cover within the unit:
How does an individual struggle for meaning in the face of conflict?
In this unit, students will focus on individual characters and their unique circumstances. In particular, students will examine their quest to find meaning, particularly in the face of forces that may be opposing them or attempting to manipulate their actions.

To continue connecting Shakespearean stories to modern concepts, and bring another element of musical theatre into the English classroom, I had students create a visual comparison one pager.
