Please consider donating to the BHSF mission.
The Bedford Historical Slave Foundation (BHSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation dedicated to researching, preserving and showcasing Bedford County Virginia’s African American history and culture. Through our genealogical archives, artifact repositories, educational curricula, and recorded family stories, we reveal a more complete narrative of Black ancestry and achievement. BHSF uncovers the shared roots in communities shaped by plantation history that we share both locally and online. We aim to inspire racial reconciliation and deep social understanding, starting in Beford County and reaching far beyond.
