Landslides are usually seen only as hazards, but this project reframes them as active shapers of Earth's surface, capable of redirecting rivers, shifting mountain drainage divides, and even locking away atmospheric carbon dioxide in their scars. Over five years, our team combines satellite remote sensing, geochemistry, field surveys, and numerical modeling across sites in the Himalayas and Alps to understand how landslides respond to a warming climate and feed back into landscape evolution.
The project is supported by the Czech Science Foundation's Junior Star grant (2026–2030) and brings together postdoctoral researchers and graduate students working at the intersection of geomorphology, climate science, and geochemistry.
