My name is Stephanie Lund, and I'm the K-12 School Counselor for Herreid and Bowdle through the Oahe Special Education Cooperative. I am originally from Woonsocket, SD and graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1994. I'm married to David Lund who is the pastor at Pollock Lutheran church in Pollock, SD and Peace Lutheran church in Herreid, SD. We have two beautiful daughters and a spoiled dog named Dude. I obtained my BS in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice in 1998 at South Dakota State University, and I also received my Master's in Counseling from SDSU in 2002. I am a dually licensed counselor in both school and mental health, and I am a strong advocate of taking care of our emotional well-being. I am the past president of the SD Mental Health Counseling Association and active in the SD Counseling Association where I have served as Secretary and Membership Chair. I have worked as a counselor in a variety of settings including St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, the SD Human Services Center and Lewis and Clark Behavioral Health in Yankton, and most recently Lutheran Social Services in Sioux Falls doing school-based mental health counseling. I currently see clients part-time at my counseling practice (River's Edge Counseling) in addition to my school counseling duties. Each of us is unique and have our own individual needs, and that is how I approach counseling. One student may need something different than another to help them succeed in school and in life. Individually, and in guidance classes, I aim to teach skills (coping, social, communication, decision-making) that can be useful in helping alleviate stress and achieving goals. My most important jobs are to be supportive and to be an advocate. I want students and parents to know that I care and want to help. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have a question or concern, or just need someone to talk to. I can be reached at the phone numbers below, or by email from each of the school's websites (stephanie.lund@k12.sd.us).
